We propose to define a novel networking architecture that is designed for machine-to-machine (M2M) applications.
In particular, the following aspects will be tackled at design level: dependability, security, and latency. It is worth noting that the first aspect, i.e. dependability, is a distinguishing feature with respect to the traditional Internet and the Future Internet architectures, where such property is not fully accounted, due to the high effort required compared to the low reward obtained for the vast majority of applications.
The proposed architecture will be service-oriented, with open interfaces, which allows its re-use in different domains.
To verify the achievement of this goal two target M2M applications will be considered from the collection of the domain-specific requirements to the development and installation of a small-scale testbed:
1. smart energy grid;
2. personal health systems.

Profilo partner richiesto
Competenze: Experts in smart energy grid or home automation systems
Experts in personal health systems
Attività da svolgere: The partner would be involved in:
[early phases] definition of the requirements of the communication infrastructure for a decentralized energy management system, esp. in terms of safety (i.e. dependability) and security (i.e. trustworthiness) issues;
[during the project] guidance on the definition of a communication system for M2M that complies with the requirements above;
[late project phases] integration of the communication infrastructure into some existing (or partially existing) platform to validate the solution proposed.
